About Lowstamp

Lowstamp is a game price tracker that shows you a Steam game's current price alongside its all-time low at a glance, then tells you whether now is a good time to buy. We built it so you can quickly answer the question you always end up asking: is this game actually cheap right now, or should I hold out for a bigger drop?

Why we built it

When you go hunting for a cheap game, you inevitably run into key shops, the sites that resell game keys. But key shop prices come with real risks, such as chargebacks, account bans, and questionable key sources, and it's common for fees to get tacked on or the price to change at checkout, so it's hard to trust that you're really getting a good deal.

Lowstamp takes direct aim at that market of mistrust. We don't deal in key shop prices at all; we compare using only official Steam prices. In other words, we honestly show you just two things: what this game actually costs to buy on Steam right now, and whether that price is good compared to its all-time low. Skip the key shops and decide based on official Steam prices alone. That's what Lowstamp is about.

Where the data comes from

Every price on Lowstamp is the official list price and current price pulled straight from Steam's own store data, shown in your region's local currency. We display the exact price Steam actually charges shoppers in each region, with no guesswork on our end.

Prices are collected automatically once a day, and we only log a record on days when the price actually changes. From that history we calculate each game's price-trend chart and its all-time low. Since we refresh just once a day, though, there can be a slight lag behind real time, so we recommend double-checking the final price on Steam right before you buy.

The Buy or Wait verdict

Lowstamp's core feature is a verdict for every game that stamps whether now is a good price to buy, comparing the current price against the all-time low like a stamp on a receipt. For example, if the current price matches or comes very close to the all-time low, you'll see a verdict that leans toward 'go ahead and buy,' and if it's pricier than usual, you'll get one that leans toward 'it's fine to wait a bit.'

Without poring over every twist in the price history, a single stamp lets you tell at a glance whether the timing is good or bad. That's the part of Lowstamp we've poured the most care into.
